Enjoy Creativity | CASEing Colour

The birthday card using the waves dies has such a great colour scheme, why not CASE it to create another!

Using the Timeless Arrangements Dies, die cut flower and leaf images in Basic White, Boho Blue, Misty Moonlight, Pool Party, Wild Wheat, and Very Vanilla.

Layer the die-cut pieces and adhere them to a circle of Very Vanilla Cardstock that is cut using the 2-3/8″ (6 cm) Circle Punch.

Next adhere the cardstock to a panel of Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Stamp out your sentiment and heat emboss it using gold Metallics Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Die cut the sentiment and adhere it to the card. To finish, use a few Festive Pearls to bring in more of the gold from the colour palette.

Take your inspiration from other products to create your own masterpiece.

Enjoy!

Making cards

A little post on making cards.

Cards have always been a way to express love, gratitude, appreciation and sympathy as well as expressing a ‘just because’. Whether it’s for a birthday, wedding, or any other special occasion, no gift can convey your feelings better than a handmade card. And, with the advent of technology, cardmaking has become more accessible and popular than ever before. In this blog post, we’ll cover everything you need to know about cardmaking, from the basics to the advanced techniques.

Types of Cards

Before we dive into the world of cardmaking, let’s take a look at the different types of cards you can make:

  1. Greeting Cards: These are the most common type of cards, and they usually come with a pre-printed message. You can either buy pre-made greeting cards or create your own with your own personal message.
  2. Invitations: Invitations are designed to inform your guests about an upcoming event. They can be formal or informal, and can be used for a variety of occasions, such as weddings, birthdays, and baby showers.
  3. Thank You Cards: These cards are used to express gratitude to someone for their kindness, help, or support. They are a great way to show your appreciation and can be used for any occasion.
  4. Note Cards: Note cards are small cards that are used to write a quick note or message. They are often used to accompany a gift or as a way to say thank you.

Tools and Materials

Now that you know the different types of cards, let’s take a look at the tools and materials you’ll need to make them:

  1. Cardstock: Cardstock is the most important material for making cards. It comes in a variety of colours and textures, and is thick enough to hold up the weight of embellishments and decorations.
  2. Cutting Tools: You’ll need a few cutting tools to create your cards, such as scissors, a paper trimmer, and/ maybe a die-cutting machine.
  3. Adhesives: Adhesives are used to hold the parts of your cards together. You can use tape runners, glue dots, or liquid glue.
  4. Embellishments: Embellishments are the decorations you use to make your cards stand out. They can be anything from stickers and ribbons to buttons and sequins.
  5. Stamps and Ink: Stamps and ink are used to add designs and messages to your cards. You can buy pre-made stamps or create your own with a stamp carving kit.

Techniques

Now that you have your tools and materials, let’s take a look at some of the techniques you can use to make your cards:

  1. Layering: Layering involves stacking different pieces of cardstock/paper on top of each other to create a dimensional effect.
  2. Embossing: Embossing involves creating a raised design on your cardstock. You can either use a manual embossing machine or an electronic one.
  3. Stamping: Stamping involves using pre-made stamps or creating your own to add designs and messages to your cards.
  4. Punching: Punching involves using a paper punch to create different shapes and designs on your cardstock.
  5. Die Cutting: Die cutting involves using a die-cutting machine to cut out shapes and designs from your cardstock.

Tips and Tricks

Here are a few tips and tricks to help you create the perfect card:

  1. Keep it Simple: Don’t overload your card with too many embellishments or decorations. Sometimes, less is more.
  2. Use High-Quality Materials: Using high-quality cardstock and embellishments will make your cards look more professional.
  3. Experiment with Colour: Don’t be afraid to experiment with different colours and textures. Mix and match until you find the perfect combination.
  4. Personalise Your Cards: Adding a personal touch, such as a handwritten message or a photo, can make your cards more meaningful.

Conclusion

Cardmaking is a fun and creative way to express your feelings and show your appreciation. With the right tools and materials, you can create beautiful and personalised cards for any occasion. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced cardmaker, there’s always something new to learn and explore in the world of cardmaking. So, grab your cardstock and lets get crafting!

Enjoy Creativity | Colour Combo

Are you reading for a Creative Challenge?

If you’re looking for a fun, creative challenge, look no further— this creative challenge is to come up with a non-traditional Christmas colour combination.

This card uses the following ink colours: Bubble Bath, Lemon Lime Twist, and Orchid Oasis.

To make this card, mix some Bubble Bath Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill with some Shimmery White Embossing Paste.

Place the Abundant Beauty Decorative Mask over some Basic White Cardstock and use a Palette Knife to spread the embossing paste over the mask to create the background.

Stamp your chosen sentiment using Orchid Oasis ink on Bubble Bath Cardstock to match the background.

Stamp some greenery in Lemon Lime Twist ink and use a Blender Pen to bring in more colour from the image outlines.

Pull apart the fibres of some Orchid Oasis Metallic Woven Ribbon and add them behind the greenery.

To finish the card, we add some 2022–2024 In Colour Pearls.

Do you prefer the traditional colours or like to use both and explore different colour combinations?

Enjoy!
